Jakuzen Tsuwamono had adopted a pet corner after Okaeshin had pulled him inside. Granted he was uneasy being here however he also had no wish to venture back out into the cold just yet. He hoped he would not offend anyone by taking care of his pet. Not long ago Kouhei had announced his intent to leave. When Tsuwa had looked at him confused and asked why Kouhei had said something to the effect of: "Because my job was to get you in the door the rest is your job you hermit."

Tsuwamono sighed. He thought it might be easier to reach out if he knew at least one person there. Not simply knew of but actually knew as in had met. He found himself wishing that Okaeshin hadn't left. He wondered if she would be back or if she had just been there to get him in the door. No, he thought, I don't think she'd have gone out into that cold without a good reason. Then again, he really had no way of knowing for sure. So for now he stayed where he was. He took care of his pet corner and conversely hoped both that some one would notice him and offer a friendly shove out of the corner and that no one would.

Sakurai stepped in and lightly stomped the snow off of his shoes. He had decided to come in from the cold and warm up for a bit, but he also wanted to get a closer look at the things that seemed so very pointless to living.

As he was walked through a small foyer packed with ornaments and pictures of people that looked like they were trying very hard to appear not shallow, his eye caught the image of himself in a hand made silver framed mirror. He barely recognized himself in a real suit.

His jacket fit well enough and the high collar of the buttoned-down was just enough to cover the restraining collar forced upon him when outside of the 7th, with any luck he would be able to pass the part showing through the top of the shirt as some sort of fashion accessory. Rich people were always wearing crap like that anyway.

“Straighten up and get back to work! We requested assistance and expect you to be of some use, Sakurai!” a man hissed at his back.

Turning slowly to not give the other the satisfaction of believing he had gotten under his skin, which he hadn’t, Souji bowed very low to the snooty looking man in a suit worth more money than he had ever had as a thief.

“Apologies, sir,” he said with his characteristic straight face, “I came back in for a moment to loosen up so I can be ready, you know, just in case,” he added carefully. With captains and commanders alike, he doubted anything would happen, but the staff didn’t have any concept of power and he wanted to remind him of how insignificant they were.

Stalking back through the hallway, he popped the knuckles and prepared himself to head back out.

At least it’s better than the cell, he thought before recalling the man that he just had the pleasure of meeting, “maybe."

"Okaeshin." Ri repeated, ignoring the girl's banter, his face red with cold, his lips chapped.

"Okaeshin, I need information." Ri said. "I dreamed...terrible dreams... and I am not sure who I can trust. I heard that Fuku-taicho Katsuji was imprisoned, that the Eighth Division was torn apart. Did...we...win?"

Vincent was about to answer when Kyu suddenly, and quite violently, pushed him aside and ran past. Getting up, rubbing his left elbow gingerly, the young death god followed the girl, fully planning on reprimanding her for her rude behaviour. Until he heard the name of who she was addressing.

Vincent stopped in his tracks, completely taken aback by the soutaichou's arrival. The boy examined Faust from head to foot, taking in the full sight of the captain commander. The powerful man reminded him a lot of Orpheus Rayne, his previous captain. Not sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing, Vincent walked up to the man and joined Kyu in greeting him.

"Good evening, Lord Faust-Soutaichou," Vincent said, giving the lowest bow his small frame could support. "It's an honour to meet you." Knowing nothing of the noble families, Vincent turned to the woman with the Captain Commander. AT first, it seemed like she might have been his date. But looking closer, Vincent decided that they looked enough alike to be siblings. "Good evening, ma'am," Vincent said as he once again bowed low. Straightening back up, Vincent could feel his face burning. He had to be ten shades of red! For the second time in his life, Vincent was speachless.

“Lady Michelle Faust, escorted by Captain Commander, Lord Gabriel Faust!” the announcement was boomed by the closest laborer that happened to be passing by the door as Ritoru’s most distinguished guests entered his manor. All work seemed to stop simultaneously as each and every person in the house stood mesmerized at seeing a caliber of nobility they had not hoped to have seen at any point in their lifetime.

Jaahn even did an about face on his way back to Ritoru’s chambers just to get a glimpse of the regal brother and sister. They had such a presence about them that he couldn’t even describe. Seconds later, yet seemed like a lifetime to Jaahn, he spun back around and hurriedly marched down the second floor hallway and into his master’s bedchamber where he still stood attempting to perfect his attire for the evening.

“So, the old man is here already,” Ritoru spoke first as he continued to adjust his formal robes in the full-size mirror in front of him. It essence, it was still a shinigami uniform, merely more restrictive and uncomfortable, “Well I shan’t keep him waiting, don’t worry. I just need to make sure that there’s nothing obvious he can judge me on.” Convinced he was suitable, Ritoru turned to Jaahn now and asked the question that had been on his mind since he first sent out his invitation.

“And Michelle is with him?” it’s delivery unabashed and sincere as Ritoru realized now that it was one of the only reasons he had thrown the party in the first place.

“That she is, Rit-taichou,” Jaahn answered, instantly catching Ritoru’s unintentional meaning, “It is a sight to behold, seeing those two together.”

“It always is my friend, it always is,” the pink haired captain realized his blunder, but it didn’t matter now. He had guests to entertain, “So let’s not keep them waiting any longer. Follow me and I’ll introduce you to the greatest man who has ever led the will of Seireitei.” Without another moments hesitation, Ritoru left his private chambers with Jaahn in toe and walked back down the great stairway where his newest guests awaited him, a smile of relief and admiration at seeing his friend after such a long time.

“Lord Faust,” Ritoru began with a smirk, finding it rather difficult to keep formalities with a friend as old as the Captain Commander had been, “We are honored by your presence this evening. Please make yourselves at home while you are here.” His eyes inevitably gravitated to the young girl at Shiroi’s side, her grey hair belying her youthful visage as she stared back at her host, “And Lady Michelle, how nice it is to finally see you again.” He tried his best not to make obvious the feelings that had been growing for his best friend’s sister, so he masked them instead with hospitality, that confident smile returning to his face as he stuck out a similar arm to that of Shiroi’s for the lady to take, “Care to take the tour with me before everything starts?”

Win? Rubbing her arms vigourously, Okaeshin stared at her Ri. "Why? Did no one tell you?" The freezing girl's teeth began to chatter, rendering her words into almost unintelligible sounds. "I mean... the... whole city... Tokyo... generators… fell... leaders... powers gone poofish... I think... not... sure..." Nuh uh. This wasn't working. Irritated, she wrapped her arms around herself tightly, willing herself shivering body to be still. Since when did it get so cold? It had only been a bit chilly when she had arrived.

"And Katsuji Fukutaichou-san." The warrior with the burnt face flashed through Okaeshin's mind, as she remembered how he had bound the band of drunks which had been harassing her during his tournament match. Cracking a smile over her frozen face, she continued, "Yeah, he's in the slammer... attacked some noble... something, and... though personally... I suspect he... a good reason..." Isshin hadn't seemed like the kind of man who would attack another person just for the fun of it. And nobles. Knowing them, a million reasons could easily be dredged up for such an act.

What about your wonderful Captain? Koko teased.

Nah. He used to live on the streets, and didn't you see the way he acted around that sparkly shit? No, he's still a rat, the petite officer waved off carelessly.

"Hey, Ri?" Okaeshin looked at her superior officer, her sienna eyes pleading. "Can we please... go in... now?"

You know, Okaeshin. I doubt he understood a word you said.

Shut up, I'm freezing!

Between her chattering teeth and his own confusion, Ri could not understand a word the vibrant, but freezing, girl said. But perhaps she could still help him.

"I'm sorry...Okaeshin." Ri said. He made a move to ruffle the youngster's hair, but arrested the motion half-way through. He noticed, suddenly, the hilt of a sword he did not recognize across her back. 'A child no longer. Ri thought.

After a pause, a moment of regret for missing this woman's growth, he spoke again. "Please ... return inside." The words were halting, the cold was hurting him. "Find the Captain ... beg his indulgence ... ask him to see me in the garden ... alone."

"Keep warm." He added.

He waited, his extremities long since numb.

”Good evening,” the Commander said, addressing the myriad of guests greeting him. “It is an honor to be here as the second ‘coolest’ person in Soul Society,” he shot an odd look at the wide eyed young girl.

“Gabriel!” Michelle said with a laugh, she craned her head in front of Shiroi and put a hand to the side of her mouth, “Don’t let him scare you, his older brothers used to pick on him for being a crybaby all the time when we were children.”

“That same crybaby could get you assigned to a lovely station out in Zaraki with but a word,” the Commander said to his subordinates, a thin smile plastered across his face. He raised an eyebrow at the blushing man looking at his sister and his grin widened to the smile of a shark looking at a particularly delicious morsel. Not a chance, boy.

“Ah,” he said, looking up to the top of the stairs where his longtime friend emerged, “It’s Lord Faust then, is it? Why not strap all the other titles to the name while you’re at it and see if it breaks?”

Michelle squeezed Shiroi’s arm, “I would like to take a tour, but isn’t someone going to take my jacket?” She held out her arms and looked around as a servant scurried to disentangle her from her coat.

Adjusting her hair and her pearl necklace after she slipped out of her jacket, she nodded at the servant, “Ah, thank you, now we may go,’ she took Ritoru’s arm and put on a mock serious face next to him; the sort reserved for the high courts.

She could only hold it for a few seconds before her smile broke through, “You know, I couldn’t do this a few centuries ago, Ritoru! I was always too tall for you! I don’t know if my family is too tall or if you were too short.”

“It’s both,” Shiroi interjected. Ritoru had appeared not much more than a child when they had served together in the Mask War. So much had changed since then.

Michelle sensed the memories creeping up on her brother and quickly moved to change the topic, “Would your other guests like to come as well Ritoru? We can tell them how the Fausts came to own this land. My brother and Ritoru here saved this area from corrupt nobles. It was one of their earliest missions together.”

"You're kidding me!" she blustered, incredulous. "You're going... stay out here... in cold? But...!"

One look at Ri's stubbornly frozen face told Okaeshin that nothing she said would budge him, so letting out a growl of exasperation, she plowed headlong back out through the snow. The sooner she found Ritoru, the sooner her pig-headed officer could defrost. So the raven-haired Death God desperately turned the corner, shoving open the closed doors to Lord Furousha's manor.

The blessed warmth began its work, thawing out her frosted appendanges, as Okaeshin's eyes roved frantically through the room for Ritoru. They stopped, relieved, when they found the pink-haired Captain, a beautiful, white-tressed woman on his arm. Beside them, a tall man with sharply grey eyes exuded a frightening sense of intensity, which forced an awed intake of breath out of the girl when she realized who he was.

Lord Gabriel Faust Soutaichou.

Shiroi, the Lonely Commander, the White, this man, he---No. There were more urgent things at hand than dallying on wonder.

“Ritoru Taichou… that idiot…” Okaeshin gasped out. Taking a step toward the nobles, she cried out as her numbed feet’s sudden return of feeling landed her hard onto her knees.

Bracing himself against the cold in a suit ill-prepared for cold weather, the would-be shinigami forced as much of his spiritual energy into the collar as he could, well beyond what it normally steals from him to make sure his prisoner status is maintained. As if he would attempt to break out when everyone knew where he was supposed to be and in the middle of a noble’s grounds with dozens if not hundreds of servants scattered about as witnesses anyway.

With whatever minimal amount of power he normally wielded reduced to next to nothing in comparison, he had to squint to try and see the little girl leave the ragged looking person who invaded a party.

Sakurai had to stifle a chuckle as he did his best to shuffle himself further back into his hiding spot. He must have forgotten his invitation.

It didn’t matter what plans this person had as long as nothing exploded; he would get locked up pretty tightly again if he was sent as additional security and something ended up blowing up.
