Plot Loopholes

1) Doesn't time proceed normally in the Soul Society? The manga shows that the School Sewing Club is complaining about the sudden absence of Ishida and Inoue Orihime. Does that mean our Rescue Team has to end their rescue within the summer vacation?

2) Aren't Shinigamis supposed to be souls? Why do they bleed? Why do Shinigamis leave behind bodies when they die in Soul Society? Why do Shinigamis have "Soul Centers"?

3) Isn't Soul Society supposed to be the Ultimate Heaven? Why is the Soul Society made up of mostly slums? Why can souls be born in the Soul Society?

4) Where's the government for the Soul Society? Isn't King Yama supposed to be in charge?

5) Won't Ichigo's family find out that the "Kon-in-Ichigo on Earth" isn't really Ichigo?

hey....this is a manga - you're not supposed to read too deep into it. you can't really expect the mangaka to explain every little minute detail do you?

some answers:

1. there's never been a "time limit" set. the gang just wanna get rukia out safe and sound asap. just cos they happen to have left during vacation time doesn't mean must "end their rescue" within this time frame.

2. yeah - shinigamis are souls. who says they can't come in physical forms? you are assuming that "souls" must be all clear and see-through and non-touchable......where does that come from?? as for why they leave behind bodies.....i'm guessing that soul society is in fact just another realm, one for souls, so it functions just like the human world. but the ultimate answer is that Tite Kubo wanted to portray it that way.....we can't argue with him can we? ;)

3. well, there are slums and there are nice, normal souls (take the ones the gang met when they first got to SS)......there isn't a society without the bad. as for why souls can be born in SS.....yeah, i noticed that as well and the fact that they can age. i think that IS a "loop-hole".....

4. who says there has to be a government? this is SS afterall, it doesn't have to run on a human-defined legal system. maybe yama is in charge.

5. the manga never mentioned that kon posed as ichigo in the real world after real ichigo left (at least not up to the current chapter). ichigo has also mentioned to his father that he prob won't be back til the end of summer vacation - hence, i don't think that kon actually went back to "home" as ichigo. you're prob thinking of how ichigo said to kon to "take care of my family". i think its more of a "if i die, take care of my family" thing.....

okay~ relax, chill.....don't think too deep.....just take in the wonder Tite Kubo feeds you through his imaginative masterpiece.

hayyyy........

Another thing about question 1. According to Yoruichi, their explosive entrance into Soul Society which involved Orihime's shield and the contact with the gatekeeper being between the world(can't remember what it's called)threw them back a week's time. She explains this when talking about Ichigo's bankai-training in the first place.

Question 5. Even though Kon is looking after Ichigo's body, it didn't seem that he'd be posing as Ichigo, for all the reasons mentioned by Aya, and because Kon couldn't fool Ichigo's family the whole time. (At least, I don't think he could.)

As I recall the one that are in charge of the government is the captains and the some 46 senators or something like that. I remember this when the captains were discussing who will take Aizen's place.

Regarding time in SS, there was a reasonable explanation of how much time has passed since Rukia has been kidnapped during Ichigo's training for Bankai by Yoruichi. I don't remember which chapter, though.

Shinigami are souls. I believe they are made up of spiritons so and since everything is made in a fashion resembling the real world, it might be a subconscious action for them to bleed when they are cut. Not really blood, but actually just their spiritons leaving their body. (If anyone can explain this one better, by all means do so.) I don't know if the bodies stay intact for long. I imagine that those spiritons eventually dissipitate with time. And I haven't heard of anything called Soul Centers. Do you mean the soul's soul they mentioned before? Like when Aizen was completely killed by his murderer?

Not so much the ultimate heaven as the eventual destination. The other option is being sent to the underworld. I don't really know why the different sections of SS can't be more pleasant to live in. What I haven't seen yet is someone being born in SS yet. Even Yachiru who was shown as a baby was probably an instance of a baby being killed and sent to SS. People do get married in SS so who knows. If nothing else, it would help to create more souls for the reincarnation process.

There is a set up of like forty-something governers that make decisions in SS. WE haven't seen them yet so we can't really tell how much power they really have. If Yama-ji can essentially declare war for the shinigami, he must be pretty powerful himself.

As mentioned, the dad knows that Ichigo won't be around for a while, but since the whole "I'm a shinigami" explanatino wasn't given, I don't his family knows why. Kon is probably hanging out with Urahara and company, having fun with Ichigo's body.

Kon is in his body likely. Kon basically announced he would be in chapter 70 right before they entered the gateway to SS. Actually, Kon tried to tag along but was left behind. I think it was necessary for Kon to enter his body. If Ichigo's body was without soul for too long, it would certainly cause harm.

so the tailsman is with kon, so ichigo never took it with him. What a waste of a gift, i thought it might have special powers or something cuz it belonged to his mom.

I imagine that Ichigo took it with him. What would be the point if he just left it with Kon? It will probably come up during some integral part of a fight.

it is not a gift. He just borrow it from his dad. If he didn;t give it back he have to shave his beard :p

Umm, don't you mean Enma-o? Yama-jii's in charge of the 13 Divisions of Soul Society, but he isn't in charge of the whole realm, leave that to the 47 (not sure of the exact number) or so District Governors.

Just as a note, Enma-o hasn't been depicted in the manga, but is relatively well-known for being the judge of the underworld, or something to that effect, in Japanese folklore.
