Guys and girls alike: What would you recommend as the best method of losing weight?
Like any specific diets you've been on that've worked, etc etc.
Okami is desperate to know XD
i also need to work on my weight. the best method (imo) would be a combination of cardio training (fitness) and watching ur food. I can live up to the first part of that method, i think it's fun, but the second part.. aaargh that's like so hard. Not eating chips, chocolate, puddings, yummy food and all that good stuff. It's kinda hard!
But when i finish my exams (friday) i'm gonna go back to fitnessing and i'll watch my eating behaviours a bit. I'll just cut down on fatty and suggary and salty food.
havent been on any specific diets so can't help ya right there Okami, sorry.

for me to keep my 'figure' I drink lots and lots of water, probably an average of 96floz a day.
Eat homemade meals when I can. NO fastfood! I havent been to a fastfood place for a couple of months, it's tempting at time but I still can just eat something just as quick at home.
Minimize on the soft drinks ie. pop (soda). Ive tried to keep it to one or two cans a week.
Thats how I keep a regiment of around 170lbs.

Sports and and keeping an eye on what you eat. If you cannot do it yourself, you could join Weight Watchers. My mom does that and is very satisfied.

im lucky! i eat looooooooaaaaadsa crap and dont put on weight! (exept lately,vamps has been feeding me alot of choccie and im gettin a teeny bellie...lol)
but just eat right and,perhaps do some sit ups in the morning and go for a run during the day! get mates to do it with ya! swimming is really good exercise too!

a simple thing you can o to lose weight would me to drink a lot of water, it fills the stomach faster than food.
also, if you plan to snack, don't eat peanuts and chips, and instead, eat an apple, or some fresh fruits.
but of course, running is the best! beginners should run about 2-4km 3 times a week, while seasoned runners should be doing 5-12km 4 times a week. basically any streneous sport will make you lose weight fast.

yea my friend is a sports trainer and he recommended me to eat 4-6 times a day in order to keep the metabolism going, and he gave me some vitamiins to, and jus watch wat u eat ad a lot f cardio

Whoa riqqie you're hardcore o_OI guess you could say that. When you dont have an abundace of money you cant afford to go to fastfood places everyday and it costs money for pop whereas water is free. Not to mention its healthier to go with this alternative.

The best way to lose weight...is to build muscle...
And before the girls go EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW...u girls don't tend to bulk up so don't worry...
The more you exercise the more you burn because if you gain 5 pounds of muscle and keep eating the same amount for a whole year...you naturally lose 10 pounds of fat since muscles eat up calories fast! So hit the gym...tone up...do a few runs and don't be scared to pick up some weights...

hmm, best methods of weightloss is ... drink lots of water, and try to eat as many water based foods as possible. lettuce, fruit, stuff like that. Soups are great as long that you don't go overboard on the oils, starches, and meats. some canned tomatoes, and vegetables and let it stew. Drink alot and it should work.
Stuff like nuts and starch actually are not the best for weightloss. Their starches, and starches, aka glucose, is a very high source of energy, not as high as pure sugar, but it still is pretty effective as a source of energy.

Losing weight and staying fit requires work. There is no good fast track diet. All those are garbage. There is plenty of good information out there on nutrition. There are things like if you build muscle, your body burns extra calories to maintain that muscle. I think I read it was one pound of muscle burns 300 calories a day, but not sure. Soda is bad for you. Get rid of it. There is really too much info to post, but I will recommend a book. The Abs Diet. Its not really a diet book, but it gives facts on nutrition and what certain foods do for the body exactly. Whats good for you and whats not and why. Usually we hear this and that is bad but we don't know the reason. It also has a good workout plan for circuit training, which will work your whole body. Its really a good book I think. I don't have much experience with fitness books but I couldn't put it down and read it in like 2 days. I even bought a copy for my mom and a friend, and convinced a friend to buy it.

5 months ago, i was 6'5 and 300lbs, im now 6'6(got sports physica form school yesterday^_^) and a lean 255. that may sound like alot, but my body fat content level thingy is at i believe 13 percent..and thats supposidly pretty **** good. like what was aaid before..drink lots of water..run 2x a week, lift weights, and if you can, join a sports team..im doing football for school, but after that im trying other things like volleyball(awsome) and rugby. I never changed my eating habits..i still kram doritos and dr. pepper in my face. the key i believe is water! WATERWATERWATER!

you would be better if you crammed some better food in your mouth instead. The crap in pop is some of the worst stuff you can ingest. I bet if you changed your eating habits to the right stuff you would have more energy and stuff. 13 percent is pretty good you're right. I think anything under 15 percent is good for a guy. Girls can be a little bit higher though cause of stuff.

i try to run like 4-5 times a week. i started off a month ago running on the, erm watcha ma call it? that machine on wich you run. i started running for 10 minutes at a steady pace of 10-13 km/h. Now, two months later, i'm running like 25 minutes at 13-15. I'm totally wasted after that, but it's like that. If there is some energy left, i also ride de bicyles a bit (5-10 minutes).
And i lift weights before i start doing my cardio stuff. i heard lot of opinions, but what do yall think:
* lift weights before or after cardio?
* crunches/situps before or after cardio?
My order is: lifting weights, cardio, situps/crunches.
how/where do yo calculate bodyfat percentage?

i was at like 38 percent or something when i weighed 300...im alot more muscular..i run the mile in 6:45...beat a kid on cross country team this year, last year i was dead last in the mile...even the fat girl with giant boobs beat me..it was like 12mins...very sad. i know i cold get even better..but i <3 dr.pepper, nothign wkll stop me from buying that...and i dislike salads...im more of a natcho cheese/meat guy...and whatya talking about energy...nacho cheese is like ALL carbs!..i pull days from 5am till 10pm school-football-work-homework...^_^

Play sports... anything that involves running... In my flagfootball team, we all eat like there's no tomorrow, and most of us don't gain anything...
I went from 124 - 112 in like a month after I started playing.

Oh I forgot this, eat 6 meals a day instead of 3. I'm sure everyone's heard this, but I never got a good reason why. When you eat every couple of hours 300-400 calories, your metabolism is always active and always digesting food, so you are burning more calories digesting food all day long and your metabolism speeds up quite a bit.

I read this and it totally reminded me of one of those girly magazines where they tell you how to lose weight or something...
but I normally just watch what I eat and then do 100 sit ups..but I dont really do those anymore, but Ill start back up since my gymnastics classes started.

Ok, what Slayer has mentionedis very true. Nz's method seems so HARD!
My method - very effective on me. I lost like over 8kg within 1months. Although I didn't want to be that light..
Well..firstly, for girls who hate jogging, go climbing stairs, it helps build up muscles around the hips area which in turns let you have a nicer butt. Then, walk more distance or stand more. It's burns more calories than when you are sitting all the time. Then, hit out in the gym and do some toning. Don't worry,muscle won'y build for girls since we are not doing heavy weight lifting, it helps to remove flabby arms, legs and what we all hate most - tummy!
While watching tv, commercials break comes - do sit ups or some stretching exercise. If you love the Sun, go have a swim, swimming is the only exercise that requires us to move our hands, legs and body. Ice skating can be good as well for toning the bottom of the body. Play badminton - light exercise as compared to volley ball/tennis/basketball, just that you need a friend to come along with you.
For diet, cut down on rice intake. Eat on the dishes you have to go along with the rice. Just eat whatever you want and reduce on rice. It cuts down on carbohydrates and burns stored fats in our body. Confirm lost weight. But not to a point that you feel hungry all the time.
Anyway, Okami-chan, don't overwork on the diet thing. No good for long term.
4 words for people trying to slim down, 少吃多动 (eat less junks and move more)

Hmmm...Travis, for your question... I think climbling stairs work on the hips. And the way you walk. You have to make sure one leg is stretched to the back before taking another step forward, and walk straight don't hunch the back!
Joy, I don't recommend losing 8kg in a month. No good at all, I look sicky and all that. That's why I come back to eating and eaing and still eating. LOL. A little chubby now but I don't really care.

well for me i go on the trendmill everyday....and do sit-ups^^...i usually do 200 sit-ups cuz it really helps flatten the tummy....and sometimes i pop in a dvd and do pilates...this help tone abs, arms, legs, etc
playing sports really helps as well....for me playing tennis helps quite a bit...cuz ur moving alot and for me i run alot while playing tennis since i hve to pick up the balls that i miss><"" especially when u hit way over the fence and hve to run out to get it...no fun but ur running!!... so tennis is quite good...badminton not bad either
water!! drink lots of water!!! this will really help ya...and drink a cup of water half hr before ur meal to fill ur tummy up...so when u eat u will eat lesser
eat healthy...like more veggies, but not much starchy foods, and avoid fast food and junk food as best as u can, no soda cuz they hve ALOT of sugar in them
eat breakfast!!! this will help as well, fills u up in the morning since u lose alot at night, and hve a really light lunch...having breakfast will allow u to do this...so u won't be really hungry when lunch comes....and if u love midnight snacking hve something light!! and wait 3 hours after u eat and then sleep..if u wanna sleep
don't sit to much, cuz sitting to much will make u gain weight...so when ur watching tv u could do the hoola hoop (i do that^____^) doesn't waste ur time and u will be kept on ur feet.....go jogging, or a walk to the park or something, dance to ur fav music
i tried this diet once...and it works....but...
i needed to lose some weight before prom....so i went on an apple diet
the ppl where i brought the dress told me this....LOL...just eat apples and drink water for 3 days to a week and u will lose weight.... u do!!...but it's not really good for u.....let me tell u something i will never ever do it again!! and i couldn't eat another apple for quite a while
don't suggest anyone to do this!!
so in the end i think best way is to eat healthy and just exercise!

ok because i lost like 10 kg in 2 months, kinda...
I do the atkins diet (aka low carbo diet)...for quite a while with some small excerise...so yea.
However, i think i was sick for quite a while, so i slimmed down with that too.

No actually it works, but a lot of experts were saying it's not healthy because when you don't utilise carb you use fats and produce these poisonous thingies... I forget what they're called now...
So it works, but it's not a good idea cos of those things.

Well, the moment I read Nz's workout, even though I'm those who don't hate jogging, I just give a pass on it. I won't be able to run that far. I will die probably. My methods are the lazy people methods. I got them from my guy friends.

I agree with you Eura-chan (I'm taking the mick Mi-neechan gave you, is that ok?) sodas are the first thing to eradicate to lose weight...As well as fast-food, butter...
But the most important is to have a well balanced diet and to eat more or less at the same hours everyday...And no eating between the meals (That one's really difficult ^^ :D )

Aww...that's bad. Don't drink coke - it's so acidic. It is said that if you put a tooth in and soak it in coke for a week, it can dissolved the whole tooth. Plus, it's not good for health.

But about the tooth dissolving is actually a myth.
Test 5 - Cola can dissolve a tooth in 24 hours: Two teeth are soaked for 24 hours, one in cola and one in phosphoric acid. The acid tooth is reduced to half it's original size, but the cola tooth just turns an ugly brown colour. Neither completely dissolves. Myth busted.I doubt that if you still left it in for a week that it'll completely disolve.

atkins diet sucks. its as simple as that. You can eat healthy food regularly without going on some stupid diet like that. cause when you cut out the carbs it can be difficult because you will get cravings for them cause you need them and usually if you get a little weak you will splurge on something bad when you do

Oh those days , now I just need to keep my slim figure , sometimes I will eat some meat such as chicken , but very little .

I mean if you are starving your body begins burning your muscle first to get nutrients before fat. Doesn't mean your body won't burn fat too. I just read that your body goes for your muscles first.

technically, they should burn off fat first, since the hydrogen content in fat in contrast to that of protein is higher, which means that there is more hydrogen available for ETC cycle, so yeah, fat is burned off first. but the metabolism fo fat for energy results in the production of ketones, which are harmful for the body. proteins are not used so often because, like you said, it eats up part of your muscle first, so you get weak faster.
in the brain however, it is the total opposite, you don't burn away fat first, bceause the neurons in the nerve fibres are made almost exclusively of fat, also your brain matter is made up mostly of fat too, so it is not a wise idea to do so. besides, your brain only metabolises glucose, which can only be made my conversion of amino acids into glucose(another step which i forgot). so fat is left relatively untouched in the brain. however, this is not to say that metabolising protein in the brain is good. the matrix within the white and gray matter of the spinal cord constitutes a significant amount of amino acids and glucose, which comed directly from the body, so even if you use up this, remember your body is getting amino acid from some other part of your body...

Drink lots of water and chew alot of sugar free gum. It takes the edge of off hunger and helps you not to get hunary so often. It also helps when you think you're hungary. but you know you aren't type thing. And eat smaller portions. And run, run like hell. That's what I did, lost like 9 pounds in 2 months. 0_0 I don't know if that will help or not.

yeah, i think i read somewhere or heard somewhere that you don't need stuff like gatorade or powerade unless you're a serious athlete. water works just as well as gatorade if you are moderately active.

Just a way to get you to shell out some money and see some results quickly and then after the set of time you gain all the weight back. its annoying how people do that kind of stuff. Oh and if you knew the stuff food companies put in food that is cheap and makes it last longer just so they can make more money, even if it really shouldn't go in your body and is unhealthy for you, you would be extremely pissed off. Why do you think so many people are fat these days? Its getting to the point where its going to be genetic and people are going to be born that way now. its sad.

generally when u start feeling thirsty, your already dehydrated because the, umm, something in your brain, has cells and then when the body is dehydated the cells give up their water to the body and shrink and that's suppose to make u feel thirsty

Your metabolism will slow down as you get older, I was like 135 all through high school and then I gained a lot of weight around 18-19, I was like 165-170, but now I've lost weight from not eating enough and I'm like 155-160, I wish I wasn't so broke. :(

yeah everyone's metabolism slows down around there, and then gain a lot of weight, happened to some of my relatives, the ones that don't exercise ot play sports much.
and no, i have to feed myself, why would i feed anyone else? i need to find BXie to feed me, but havne't seen him in a while :(
Well i'm in the process of dropping alot of unneeded weight. Here's what i'm doing.
No Breakfast. Which is normal for me anyway. I can't eat breakfast ^^;
Jog/Sprint a mile at least once a day.
Swimming. I try to do this as often as possible. It's helpful on so many levels.
Lunch. Lunch is purely to regain energy so i tend to go with either a toasted cheese sandwich or a jacket potato with cheese.
I also try going to the gym and doing a bit of sandbaging with rhythmic lower body movement.
Having an mp3 player is a must for me cause without it i don't think i'd be doing excercise ^^;
Dinner is usually tuna pasta or some fish meal. It's not too fatty and it gives out plenty of energy.
My current progress is that i've been doing this for about 4 days and i've dropped roughly 4 pounds.

if your trying to lose weight you should eat breakfast to start your metabolism throughout the day, i eat like six times a day, do about a mile or two and my job i s physical labor and in the last month lost bout 10 pounds and stay away from FAST FOOD, if you do have to eat that dont get fries and instead os soda get lemonade or water

Listen to the phrase, "Eat more breakfast, eat an average amount for lunch, and eat less for dinner" If I'm not wrong, that was a chinese saying, and it couldnt be more true.
Why? Because by not eating breakfast, you will have to stuff yourself for lunch and dinner. There are other reasons to it, but missing breakfast = one of the fastest way to get fat.

Fri: Badminton for 2 hours

Sun: 12km run
if you do this, you can practically eat all the crap you want without feeling guilty.

Yeah, breakfast is definatly the most important meal. I can skip lunch and dinner if I only get something in then.
My method is just, 'eat less'. If that means only having half a sandwhich and a glass of milk for lunch, fine. Eat less, move around more. Not neccessarily going to the gym (I'm not eighteen, so I can't join a gym anyway), but just moving more during the day. Walking rather than taking the bus.

I walk like 4 bus stops distance daily. From my house to the bus stop tat heads towards the train station, then from the train station I have to walk one bus stop distance to school.
I never eat less. I believe I have to move more rather than starve myself but I tend to forget to eat cos I'm too busy with school stuffs and outside project.

yeah but I'm not fat, and don't have a gut at all, my stomach is flat but my abs haven't popped out yet. I'm also stronger and stuff. So its not like its fat or anything.
And plus I gained about 25 percent weight, so I have like 25 percent more sexiness than before :D :p

there are different kinds of cooking oil, some are more fattening and some are healthier for you. i think olive oil is supposed to be really good but i don't like the taste that much in my cooking so i usually use vegetable oil
fruits are healthy, and snacking on them is definitely better than eating junk so that would help lose weight i guess, logically it makes sense =/

After that, she is still hungry, and ate another apple. That is 2 apples altogether but she is still hungry so she ate another orange - cos she finished the apples. BUT she is still hungry...in the end she cooked noodles for breakfast and complained how silly it is to go on diet. My dad was teasing her that she has to eat a watermelon to be full. LOL...

when your making sushi it depends if you want your food to be authentic or whether or not you just want it to look like sushi and taste good.
traditional sushi actually isn't the healthiest thing for you.
however, you can cut out some parts of it.
Rice: just cook rice and put some vinegar in (vinegar is supposed to be good for you, I think)
fillings: stay away from stuff like eggs and other calorie heavy foods. I'd say just get some lean fish (steamed, but please not fried, tempura+sushi=unhealthiness). I usually use some leftover steamed fish to make the sushi. non-meats like carrots or celery are good, use lots and lots of them.
Nori: now just wrap and cut. Hopefully a healthier version of sushi for everyone.

Breakfast is easy to do healthy. Toast with low sugar jams. Instant oatmeal (the low sugar versions) can be yummy. If you rather it cold make it the night before.
Trust me...eat a heavy breakfast...drink two glasses of 1% or 2% milk and you will be full enough to last to lunch where you won't need to stuff yourself.

I just had KFC 2 days ago...it was so nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And on the same day, I had FIsh & Co... All fried food.. >.<
I eat junk like almost every day too!!!
To be specific: Chocolate. Teehee.
I don't really eat chips and stuff these days.

But seriously...I eat junk more tahn twice a week during school time but I'm also in the gym min once a week for an hour or so and playing soccer once a week. It doesn't take that much effort really. You'd be surprised how it all adds up over time.
but the gym is boring o_o;;;

Okami-chan, maybe you are just heavy bones? I look slim but somehow I'm heavier than those around my size. :p
There was once during bio-prac when my friend who weighed only 47kg was complaining about how heavy she was. So I suggested that she eat something that will help her lose weight. She was like, "You have some ways to lose weight?!!??" I was like, "yea, we have lots of that thing in school." She got excited and asked me what was it and I replied, "just grab some of it from the agar plate and eat the Escherichia coli - sure lose weight" (cos you will have stomachache if you by any chance get that bacteria into your body) The rest of the girls ended up laughing at her for believing me since I'm the joker around in class. O_o But the main motive of doing it was to tell her, she doesn't need to lose any weight.
