Which one do you usually go for when you look for an anime?
I don't really have a strong prefrence for the three categories. I don't mind the pairings in the anime as long as the plotline and the anime is wonderful.
Edit: For those who are not familliar with the terms above.
Yaoi= male x male
Yuri= female x female
Straight = normal(male x female)

If there are pairings I'd perfer yuri and straight. I'm a guy so you can't really blame me... =p
It's nice you watch yuri though. :D

o.0 I don't watch Yuri! But I did write a yuri fanfiction before. Truth to be told, I've never seen a single yaoi or yuri anime before. Partly because I couldn't find any that interests me.
I don't really understand why girls usually prefer yaoi while guys prefer yuri... Perhaps it because of the hot guys and girls in action...

Never found any besides Loveless and I didn't really watch it. -.-
Perhaps? Isn't that the only reason why? xD. I dont' mind yaoi but I'm not gonna watch it. Yuri I don't really care about. I actually perfer if it was just het.
Fanfiction isn't so bad though. Though some of the yaoi ones really scare me.

I believe Het is straight. Short for hetero which means 'others', 'different' sexes. Homo is the same. Something like that anyway. :D
NZ are you sure that list is complete? Gravitation or something is yaoi too isn't it? O.O

Gravitation sounds familliar... I think I've heard about it from my friends. [stays away from it]
Is yaoi and yuri rarer than shounen-ai and shoujo-ai?

Its not really something I think about when I pick an anime Im going to watch. Though I do usually tend to go for the straight couples I often find myself liking yaoi and yuri(well acctually more like shounen/shoujou ai)couples if they pop up.
In the end when I look for an anime there are other things that attract me to it rather than the sexuality of the characters i.e art style, plot

I really don't have a particular favorite. As long as the couple has substance backing it up and a captivating story and bond, I'm sold.

well, i'm female so it's straight and yaoi
i find that usually for anime it's straight and manga it's yaoi, probably because there'a a lot of yaoi manga and most of the manga never get turned into anime, but story's still more important to me

I voted Yuri and Straight. Its not like i have anything against Yaoi but I have tried watching a couple and it honestly makes me uncomfortable and creeps me out a bit. Two guys kisssing or whatnot just makes me cringe. On the other hand I find love between two women to be very beautiful, especially in an anime.
Im sure most guys think like me though.

I second that all the way, just for one thing; I don't creep out bit, but a lot :p.

Straight.... If it has Straight pairings I will be happy.
Though, usually I just watch anime and if it catch my interest... then yay!
(Though, I doubt a yaoi or a yuri anime will catch my interest.)
Straight mainly ^^;, But sometimes Yuri =P

Definitely straight. Yaoi only if the guy on guy stuff has a purpose.
hmm.....i voted for straight....LOL
so ya....

I don't really care as long as the storyline is great.
But I do prefer straight over yaoi/yuri couples. Straight pairings are always among my tops. Yaoi and yuri are fine with me, as long as it's not too explicit XD

I'm a big yaoi fan. But on anime, i like to have straight. I voted straight and yaoi, because Gravitation made me laugh and Yuki is THE hotness...lol. I go to ycon every year and i enjoy MOST of the yaoi storylines (some of them are just WRONG...-_-) But for yaoi, i prefer manga^^

I think the only yaoi manga I liked was this Midare something.
Rather explicit, but it had a beautiful storyline ^^

I like them all, as long as they don't involve explicit material which just shoots the story to the moon. Straights is straight so everyone likes that.
Yuri I like sometimes as long that it's a well told story, Ayaka and Yayoi (Stellvia) were like that, no nasty material, just some simple honest attraction between two girls.
Yaoi I'm less of a fan of, but that's probably since I haven't really read much in terms of Yaoi mangas. I read some yaoi fanfics before that were actually well done, Like above, as long as it doesn't involve any wierd stuff, and it's written well, It's good.

Well I would have to say straight is my favorite, but that is because straight relationships are normally the ones built on the most in the Anime giving them more meaning, Yuri can be very good, but it has to be the right couple and the right situatioin otherwise it won't work.
I can't say I have really looked at Yaoi much (the much thanks to a female friends of mine ¬_¬) , it was ok, but being a gay, I didn't go back, XD

hehe, I prefer straight parings over the rest. I've seen some yaoi because my friend is a die hard yaoi fan, but they seemed funny to me because they were more dramatic and moody. but there's a difference between Yaoi and Shounen Ai, usually yaoi is explicit while shounen ai is more lovey dovey. The best one I've seen is Gravitation..though the fangirls at conventions seem like tigers on the prowl for the next Gravi cosplayer....scary stuff

Picked straight and yuri. Yaoi is just... not right. Yuri I can tolerate because I'm a guy, and it's nice to see some girl-on-girl action once in a while :D

I think the only yaoi manga I liked was this Midare something.
Rather explicit, but it had a beautiful storyline ^^
Ycon this year has Kazuma Kodaka as the speaker. She's Midare's mangaka. I LOVE her work...Ihoujin Etrange is sooooo pretty and the story rocks. She also makes the VERY BEST PoT dj's...yum, lol. Ohh and also..Midare made me cry my heart out when the younger brother dies in the cave with his lover...*bawls again*
As for yaoi per ce, i take storyline over smutt anyday. Ya, there are some days when all i want is explicit stuff...for that i read some Takashima. But for great storylines and BISHIES gallore, I read some Ayano, Honami(she's a yaoi artist that does collaborations for novelists/mangakas)Bohra, Kodaka, Tohru, Nitta(the best for heartfelt plots) and Higuri(the mangaka for Seimaden, try Cantarella^^). Anime wise, Ai no Kusabi made me cry my heart out!!!! is sooooooooooo good (bishies also, lol :P) and Sensitive Pornograph is recommended for those looking for smutt. VERY explicit w/o a storyline. But ya, yummy bishies gallore...YAY!! The actual mangaka/artist is the one for Juvenile Orion Aquarian Age(gooood manga btw) Her art rocks imo.
Just my two cents for those interested in some yaoi anime/manga, but were afraid to ask :D

i agree with what bleachX, it's too darn queer for me to watch yaoi...I watched it once and i went like WTH....I didn't really enjoy the experience at all.

I will read/watch anything, as long as its well-done. >_> some of my friends think I might be gay because I don't discriminate in what I read -_-;

Let's see, I sometimes like shounen-ai, I believe it's a ligther version of yaoi. And yaoi is more hentai, but seems alot people uses the term yaoi instead now. ^^; But to me, it's get pretty boring if everyone was gay in the series. -___- I'm pretty okay with shoujo-ai, again I believe it's same like the shounen-ai term. But if I was ask if I like yuri or yaoi, I choose yaoi. The only yuri pairing I kinda adore is Tomoyo x Sakura (CCS), and I guess sometimes Tatsuki x Orihime. Xp And of course, I like straight pairings but lately been picky on them. 0_o
Oh and I forget, the term yaoi/yuri are like for doujinshi too. And the word shounen-ai / shoujo-ai is a more professional form. Hope I got it right ^^;
