Half empty.
Now that I've said that, does it make me a pessimistic asshole? No, not at all.
If I said half full, does it make me an optimistic, happy person? No, not at all

Easy, if you filled a glass for 50% it's half full.
if you had a full glass, but drank 50% out of it, you've got a half empty glass :}

I say half full so people will be careful not to knock it over.
Half empty doesn't inspire much caution.
