I'm from Australia. And I freaking love my cricket during the summer.

It's rather becoming our sport than a world sport. It's a shame the Aussie cricket team rolls everyone. :D

I played as a batsman during my high-school days. Highest ton was 274*. Test-match cricket.

It's also a shame the Indian cricket team form's slumped since last year. I expected the current India v Australia series to be a cracker. Oh well..

By the way, for the thread creator/moderators in here: can you please rename this thread to "The Official BleachForums Cricket Thread"?

whats a Wicket?

A wicket is one of those two peculiar bars you might see erected, & opposing each other on the cricket field.

A wicket is also a period of success when the bowler of the fielding team manages to oust the batsman of the batting team by either:

- Stumping him
- Running the batsman out
- Leg-before-wicket
- Caught & bowled

In other words a wicket for a fielding team is best equivilant to either of:

- Strike 3 in Baseball/Catch in Baseball
- Touchdown in American Football
- Goals in Football or Hockey

People like you, frankly, claim that the sport of cricket is boring simply because it's a either a foriegn sport to Americans & the non-Commonwealth or the explicit rules of the game.

That's a ludicrious statement - no offence.

I'm very conscious that if one may come to understand the rules of cricket with common sense (which really isn't hard to pickup - when I first noticed the rules of baseball I found it harder to learn than cricket), one may actually have interest in the game.
You could still, however, claim the sport is boring only because if you understand the sport. Now that's a valid reason as to why you would think a sport like cricket would be boring.

Here's a website that contains the Laws of cricket:
