Does anyone know how to/or of a program that can max a dsl connection?
They put a limiter on mine, but if it was taken off it could reach far over 500K.
Anyone have some advice?
Dono how to "max" out a dsl connection. But I have a Verizon Dsl Connection. Highest speed I get is 768kbps and downloading is 90kbps
And I hate it! I want cable!

cable has a speed cap as well but im sure if you remove it and your isp notices, your service will be terminated and you might even be banned from the isp.

I don't know anything about maxing you dsl out, but the best I can tell you is get cable. I've got Time Warner Cable's Road Runner. It says you can get a max of 3 mbps, but I've never seen it that high.

3 Mbps = 3 Megabits/second = 384 KiloBytes/second = 384KB/s

a 100 MBPS line is about USD$7000 a month. I think you are referring to your ethernet connection there, not your internet connection.
With dsl, most companys offer 1.5 - 3 mbps although I have seen one or two that offer 6. Cable is the same way. I have found cable internet to have a few more problems with speed than dsl. But if you are paying for 3 mbps dsl and are only getting 20 kbps max I would get a tech support guy out there, as there is something configured wrong on your box. Probally your router, if you have one. Also it could be the wiring in your house is old, or you are close to or farther away than 18,000 ft from the routing station.

warning levels are decided by your isp. Bellsouth, my isp, for instance doesn't have warning levels. I have transfers tbs of data in a month without a problem. Although when you transfer that kind of data they begin to monitor you for copyright infrigment, which many companys have a "3 strike" policy on. I don't know BS standing on that however.
so your isp is probally different from him.

i hope so. my connection is somekind of shared 1gb connection to the houses around here. so i have a 2mbit/1mbit but fluxuates to 1/1 and 3/1 depending on how many there are online. the funny thing is. even thought they might monitor me for copyrighted stuff. the are not allowewd to, by the law. only if the they can prove to a judge that i have been leeching copyrighted material, then they may confiscate my hd.
and only way they can do that is by leeching with the same program that is use. bittorrent anyone? and since i usually only get anime and manga via internet, i should be safe. the movies and such, i get from the friends when we have a lan-party.

ive got verizon dsl, and its slow as hell (that rhymed!) im not gona risk somehow taking the cap off mine because my parents dont wanna get me cable even though its cheaper if you already have cable tv. my speeds usually: BT w/ firewall deactivated=40kb/s
direct w/ firewall deactivated=60-70kb/s. DLs with firewall on, are considerably lower.
try setting your bt to use other ports i have been able to max out my connection doing so. anyway i use cable :)

You can buy a dedicated 100mbps line for $3000 a month.
Also, you cannot uncap with most companies, they set a d/l and u/l limit through their system, your modem is capable of going alot faster than it is now, but it's all worked out through their system, only they can send you more data so it goes faster.
You can however tweak your PC settings to get better speeds, sometimes it proves useless, but other times it helps alot.
