View Full Version : What type of car do you drive?

Hm, I was just wondering what type of vehicles everyone has (if you own one) and if anyone is as dissapointed in their ride as I am with mine. I have a 95 blue Honda Civic and all I can say...it's a piece of junk. Well, the car itself is decent and Honda's will last forever. It's got cracks/chips in the paint (that weren't cause by me but the crappy paint job that came with it) and has a clutch that's about to fall out. The power windows hardly work and the heating system in the car is crap (which sucks cause I'm in VA and it's cold out right now). *sighs* I need a new car...

I drive a green 1994 GMC Jimmy 4 door.
Its an alright truck I guess, got some problems with the idle that I cant seem to fix. It does have the most comfortable leather seats ever though.

In a few months if money isnt tight Im planning on buying an early 90's Nissan 300zx.

That's a good goal. I really want a Scion xA (not the box looking thing). My dad has a Scion tC (the new car), he bought it like...the week it came out. Made me jealous lol. I'm hoping to bust a** this summer too, work towards it. Thank God they aren't that expensive.

hey d34th, dont be discouraged. you can fix up your car to be really nice and/or fast. Cuz i also have a 95' civic DX - doesnt have power anything. But i did a GSR engine swap, new paint, new clutch, and other stuff to it. so it turned out pretty nice. so dont give up hope on your car just yet. but if your totally sick of it... then yea save up for the scion.. cuz man that car looks sweet.

I would love to fix up my car to the point of turning heads. Only problem is money, I heard that it's expensive to fix up a Honda. Of course, lol, I guess if I could afford a Scion I could afford to tweek my Honda. I don't hate the car yet, just dislike it :p More or less cause of the way it looks. Maybe if I get the body fixed and throw a nice paint job on it I'll like it more. :D

Yeah, too bad I don't know anyone *sighs*. My area isn't the best for car customization, there's maybe 2 places in a 50 mile radius (that are trustworthy and legal anyways). Hm, maybe I will just start saving up for that Scion, lol. It's new and can be bought customized to my liking. Now for the hard part, making enough money worth saving.
in my dreams i drive a black 350z (not too ambitious)......but i really drive a lexus rx 400h. i know, i know - that's not even out yet but that's why it's called dreaming!
i won't be able to buy a car for a long while but my 97 camry is trusty and hasn't had any problems yet!
----oh yeah - good luck to everyone on their future purchases!

****, I wish I were rich, then I'd buy all kinds of sweet cars and motorcycles. My dream car would have to be a Porsche 911, that's WAY out of my reach though, lol. I'll just have to settle for my Scion, heh...heck, that's out of my reach.

hmm... well if you start saving now... you might be able to get it soon. if you can at least pay the down payment.. then you're set. something i wouldnt recommend tho, cuz then you'd be left with a huge bill every month.

03-17-2005, 07:48 PM
Yeah, that's pretty much what keeps me from buying any new car. That and my insurance would sky rocket. Going from driving something that had been considered "totaled" before I bought it, to driving a brand new car, wouldn't go well with the insurance company, lol. They'd have money symbols in their eyes :p

Esdur drove a 99 grablue corollo until her sister hit a cab on the freeway. Although she is fine my car crumpled up like tinfoil. Corolla's do that but they get really good gas mileage.
So now Esdur drives a pair of Kirkland tennis shoes she bought for ten bucks at Costco.

Oooh... good thing I searched this forum for a car topic before posting a new topic on the same thing. XD
I have a silver Hyundai Elantra, 2000, that I have named my Mighty Driving Utensil, Sporker. My Sporker has fuzzy 8-balls hanging from the rearview along with my class tassel ('03) and a car jar in the Midsummer's Night scent. I have a gecko steering wheel cover, gecko shoulder pad, gecko seat cover, and gecko CD slide for the visors. On the trunk is a black magnetic POW*MIA ribbon and a yellow magnetic "Support Your Troops" ribbon. Around the license plate is a barbed wire license plate cover. Looks pretty sweet, really.
I drive a 1994 Toyota Pick-Up 4x4, she aint fast, but she'l darn well go anywhere that your little speed-demons cant.
http://www.dandanonline.com/truck/ - pictures. :)
I plan on selling the camper and replacing it with a RollBar w/ spotlights and adding a brush gaurd with foglights. But $ comes into play so it will take a few months. I'll repost when I have a completed transformation.

The better news for me is that my cousin living in Japan right now is thinking about GIVING me his 2001, tuned Nissan Skyline GTR, all JDM stlyed! :D He said he was getting a brand new Skyline from a frind of his for a cheap dollar so he called me and asked if I wanted his skyline if he bought the new one from his friend. I'ss prob. sell my Integra and make some more $$$ which I can use to my cousin's Skyline which may become M-I-N-E! Theres a 70/30 chance of all this happening though.

We had that in high school too. Though sine the parking spaces were limited you had assigned ones drawn from a lotto so to speak.
You're right the bus isn't that bad, most of the time only problem is for some reason they don't run on campus Saturdays and Sundays.

I was in an accident with my Lexus ES like 4 months ago, incurency company didnt really want to pay for a new one but after some talking with lawyers and shitz, it worked. I will probably get the money in 4-5 months so as it is now i dont have a car. :/

freshman at my college aren't allowed to have cars on campus -_- so my current mode of transport is know as "the foot."
at home, though, i usually drive myself and my posse around in my 1993 ford taurus station wagon. it's the only car any of us has that can fit everybody (seven people) in it. i can't find a picture of this anywhere for some reason. whatever...
for racing, though, i use my dad's 1987 honda accord (for some reason i can't find a picture ANYWHERE). we tricked it out crazily. he's insanely good with engines.
he's got a motorcycle now, that he's willing to let me use... i just have to get the proper license for it. kukuku.

Honda maintanece is actually pretty good compared to others :p buuuuut i have to show off my 1990 Honda Prelude SR haha tell me what cha think?

Its my daily driver and my only car and my first car... Dad and I rebuilt the motor when i was 14 back in 1998. I started driving it regularly in 2002 as a high school senior. In 04-05 I got the body fixed and the car painted. I still need to go over the interior. I plan to redo the Capet and the seats and fabricate a nice oak paneled headliner. Plus I need door panels.
It's got a big block 383 cid motor (6.38L), 440 style camshaft. Ported heads with over sized exhaust and a couple of other small tweaks. because of the fact that it has low compression cut piston heads and older style closed chamber heads it still gets near 10:1 compression and with the valve clearance from the pistons I can turn the timing up around 20 degrees advanced. Oh yeah it's an automatic 727 torque flight transmission. The rear gears are 2.76 so its not a drag car but it cruises pretty effortlessly on the highway. I have a hard time going the speed limit cause it takes such little pedal to maintain it.

sheesh.....who really needs a 5.5L engine?
It just drinks gas like nothing else. It's too insane.

It is quite insane, pick up is crazy! Definitely a powerful car with the 385 horsepower backing it up. I guess its not really necessary to have such a powerful car living in the city, but still, its nice :) I love my dad's car.
Oh and thanks for the comment/envy crissaegrim, lol

ummmmmmmm....I meant insane in a sort of "it's-not-really-needed-and-just-excess" sort of way.
I can get almost 300bhp out of my civic (no it's not all stock) on a good day and still have amazing gas mileage. and it's only a 2.0L

Well I dont have my own car (what the hell you expect, i havent left my school yet, so I dont have the money to get 1), but I use my mams Volkswagen Polo, a nice simple black car, not fancy but the bugger is tough as hell from what my m8 says, his mams one got hit by a truck on the moterway, and she came out without fatal injuries cause of the cars body structure being all 1 piece (but i have to pull the ornament off the aerial each time, I am not going around town with a tiny pink mickey ears bobble on my car aerial)

Two of my brother in laws actually have ferraris lol.
One has an 04 Ferrari 575 Maranello, and the other a new Ferrari F430 Spyder.
They collect cars, so the ferraris are only a couple of cars they both have.

people don't drive v8's in order to get good gas millage... they do it for power. Hp comes from two things, the volume of fuel you consume and how efficiently you burn it. Plus you're comparing a motor that's not stock to one that is stock. When someone takes and puts forced air induction into a big excessive v8 and things like that which you have to do to get 300 bhp out of a 2.0L. They get along the lines of 700-1200 bhp depending on how good the build is. One could argue that that amount of horse power is just not needed for street driving, but some ppl (myself included) would disagree. I know you can make four cylinders make just as much power but its easier to do it with a big old v8 and you end up burning just as much fuel either way if you truly make a performance vehicle.
I have to admit making a honda 2.0L put out 300 bhp is impressive. I'm not knocking your car I'm just saying v8's aren't intended to give good gas millage. And factory stock most of them start out in the 300 bhp club to begin with. That's why ppl like them.

Nice. My dad used to have an E class, a long time ago. Now he has the Mercedes SL550.
No offense, but I've driven the new C class, and I really don't like it, actually, truthy, both the E 350 and C 350 cars don't live up to Mercedes standards. You haven't driven a real Benz until you have driven a 550 model(like the CLS, S, SL, CL, etc).
I was considering getting the C class as a first car, but when I drove it, it had no power too it and was bland, in my opinion the infiniti trumps it. my infiniti is still no comparison at all to my dads Mercedes, but it is much faster than the Mercedes 350 series cars.

It is an awesome car, and right out of university, I doubt he could get a $300,000 car. lol
The SL is an amazing car.
My brother in law has a Ferrari F430 Spyder, and a Ford GT racecar(with over 800 horsepower). both of those cars put my dads Mercedes to shame, haha.
But, I love my new Infiniti, its awesome. Definitely slower than my dads SL, but it has fast pick-up, and a pretty powerful engine for a small and light car.

Turbo's are awesome cars. My dad's partner has an older one(about 5 years old). But I see them all the time, pretty nice looking cars.
Where do you live btw? I live in Los Angeles, near Beverly Hills, so luxury and exotic cars are always around. Porsche Turbos are actually really common, i must see like at least 10 a day, same with even Ferraris and Bentleys. And Mercedes and BMW, don't even get me started haha, they are literally every other car. XD
