i don't play any right now... i played basketball, soccer, and tennis in high school though

Babbo

Babbo used to row during high school, and before (7th grade to 9th grade) Babbo played lacrosse, and before that Babbo was on swim team....but right now, nothing....

i wanted to play lacrosse, but then some guy in our town, which has the state's college, gets nailed in the heart and dies, and i'm watching our peewee team play, and this kid get hits, doesn't get up for over an hour, police, ambulances and **** start coming in. crazy as hell. same with hockey, i don't want to frickin projectiles flying at me at faster than 30 miles an hour. and swimming, yeah.......... its just fine, though most of the people here probably spend too much time in front of their camera or online searching for manga

I'm playing basketball right now. I played softball last spring/summer, but I'm not sure if I'll play this year.

Yeah, that happens to at least one person every year....getting hit in the chest with a solid rubber ball is gonna do some damage, especially since they only just started putting a protecter for the chest in pads in the last few years....and trust me, that balls going faster than 30 mph, especially from a defense stick...those tings are 6 feet long....it's a really fun game man, I really regret that i stopped plaing it.....

and swimming...d00d people look at swimming like it's just a recrationally thing....when you have to swimm for a couple hours eveyr day of the week you won't look at it like that ever again....I was in best shape of my life back when I was swim team....

it may look easy, but if you don't have proper form and stuff for swimming, you're gonna get tired easy. you gotta be really fit to do that, not to mention have some stamina

jxuusa
03-06-2005, 07:42 PM
lol. same here for cross country.go and run 7 miles! i want you back before 4:30 so you can do mile repeats! lol

and for lacrosse, i know the ball goes faster than that. the only projectile i'd go towards or wanna watch would be either a disc or basketball. i might play ultimate in college, applied to a few pretty good schools with powerful programs.. yale is pretty **** good, so is cornell. zoodisc of umass is top 40... wash. u, bu and northeastern all have pretty decent programs as well. but i am angry cause the guys races for xc go from 3.1 miles to 4.9 or something while the girls stay the same.

and dude, those 6 foot lacrosse sticks, they do hurt, even with pads. some dude wacked me in the head once and my ears were ringing even after the game ended.

and i guess i grew to kinda hate swimming because in middle school were were forced to have a swimming class smack dab in the middle of winter, and NE weather ain't exactly what you would call warm, you should know. i did really like swimming, i went to the gym pool and swam everyday, but... yea, maybe i'll get into it again when i get into college, you never know.

and protection in sports is good. more padding

I wouldn't know anything about that seeing as I can't swim at all. There's a stereotype I could bring up, but I won't :D One of my friends from high school swam our sophomore year and it got him in great shape. When he quit (or whatever, I don't know) he blew up.

yeah, but the best thing about lacrosse is the violence...I know that might sound strange, but being able to knock a on the fround is pretty fun:D

yeah winter sucks....especially with all the snow we've had, and Babbo's school rarely cancels class...the on time they did they only cnceled classes after 4:00 pm, Babbo's clases are down by 2:00 pm....

ugh...cross country.....Babbo was never able to get his mile below a 7:30...and 50 free never went below 34 seconds...:(

Rowing was fun though...it's just it's so **** expensive, the program at Babbo's school was new so it cost $200 a season...lacrosse wasn't cheap either, cheapest gloves were around $60 and the stick was around $100, the chest pad around $80, the elbow pads $40-50, and weird thing is, you don't where shin gards even though people hit you with their stick there all the time...the only thing Babbo didn't have to buy new for lacrosse was cleats and the helmet, so people went as far as to buy the helmet too...don't remeber how much they cost, but they're not cheap.......

Hmm...I won't even talk about miles. I have football size. I'm fast for my size but it's still nothing I'd brag about.

jxuusa
03-06-2005, 08:00 PM
hm, rowing, we didn't have a rowing team, yeah, lucky for cross country you don't need much money, get some training schools, flats, and go run.. a watch would be good too, same for ultimate, all you need are cleats and a disc.... hm, do you see a thread here for the sports i play? very cheap.

talking about lacrosse brings back memories...
i get really into the game, during one game, our team was losing, and i just scooped the ball up... i was at midfield.... and i just flung it as hard as i could towards the goal, and all of a sudden this kid from the other team comes out of nowhere and the ball breaks the mask and hits him in the face, as i remember it was his right cheek or something. i swear he was out cold... i really heard it from my teammates and the other team, not to mention the ref.

babbo, 7:30 mile is pretty decent. and a 34s 50 isn't to bad... its unbelieveable how much people spend on sports... what college did you go to? or in?

i could only get my mile time down to 6:20 :(

and you are unhappy? beats my mile anways
is your 6:20 running just one mile hard or an average of several miles?
cause if thats an average, then you are running about 19 minutes for a 5K race, which is good enough for 5th spot on varsity or top 5 on JV

Babbo's in Eastern Connecticut State University...Babbo not planning on any college sports until Babbo gets Back in shape, they're thinking of forming a crew(rowing) program, babbo might do that...

eastern conn. state u? never heard of it before. small college?

Babbo
03-07-2005, 08:30 PM

no it was just one mile hard. i ran a 9:40 mile and a half once but that was only one time i managed to do it. so i doubt i'd be able to do a 19 minute 5K race

Personally i like to play and watch basketball when good weather permits. Also watch american football and and i used to ben in track n field but not a anymore as i dont have the stamina and endurance that i once had. lol.
My personal fav sport is SNOWBOARDING!! Yea baby, yea! i'f you guys have never tried it before, its quite easy to learn how as i taught myself to learn how to ride. Been developing my skills over the past couple of seasons, and now i'm working on getting better at doing some jumps and the half-pipe. O man, tried the half-pipe for the first time just this past january and it was fricken insane. nearly crapped myself when i got the highest i've ever jumped before. my cousin was with me that day and he was watching from the top of the pipe and told me that i must've gotten about 6 feet in the air on the first jump after the launch. :)

jxuusa
03-10-2005, 07:32 PM
snowboarding, very hard for me... never tried it after that once though my friends are trying to get me into that stuff again. and... though watching games are good, i sometimes just wanna jump in and do something.

where do you snowboard?

Odnar
03-10-2005, 08:43 PM
Hockey is my sport of choice, there is nothing like giving someone a hip check mid-ice. I had to quit because it got to expensive for me, you constantly have to replace pads and gloves because they were out. Stick heads and skates and pants, it's just too much.

I also agree that swimming is hard as it works just about every **** muscle in your body.

Also I've got to say that snowboarding was one of the best things i've ever done. I've done it twice and picked it up pretty easily but I just have no time to pursue it. When I graduate next semester I'm going to make sure I have some time for it.

Babbo
03-10-2005, 11:35 PM
babbo tried karate for a month, but then could afford it, it sucked cause it was fun, Babbo's probably gonna take it or kung fu as phys ed next year...

Nami
03-11-2005, 12:48 AM
You get that as phys ed? Pretty lucky. I think they tried that once at our school but it was something like an excercise show combined with martial arts kicks? Something cheesy anyway.

Babbo
03-11-2005, 08:20 AM
tae bo??? they tried to make us do that during middle school...Babbo thinks they just have agreater varieyt of phys ed casses in college, you have to take 3 credits and they're all 1 credit courses...Babbo is ooooo gonna take badmiton!!!!!

badmiton is the best sport ever!!! and if you think it's not hard or physically demanding, the you've never played competetively.

during highschool we had open badmiton during mid terms...babbo played three hours straight.....Babbo couldn't move his arms practicaly, and then he had to go do a 5000 meter piece on the erg(rowing machine) for crew......

Nami
03-11-2005, 09:32 PM
Ye I played badminton some in middle school. It is fun. Our school is boring. We have 3 days a week (mon, wed, fri) for softball/walking/volleyball/weigh-lifting/tennis and then (tues, thurs) "free days" you get three choices for the whole year...walking, floor hockey, or volleyball. Pretty lame. They dont provide a wide range of sports and they call it phys ed...

xero_ghost

our coach was like that as well when it came to basketball.. he wouldn't let us touch a ball for a month, or until we were apporaching what he felt was conditioned enough to learn the basics.. we weren't flashy, but what we did do we did fast and efficient..

Bah.. I'm so sick of our Soccer teams back home, noone ever takes it seriously that we should be training together. so it always ends up that we have a few good players and the rest dont know how to work together..

I play soccer (or football whatever you like). I really like the game and have been playing for 5 years now. I play in a local team and also get to my school's team every year. I'm not that good actually but there aren't many who play soccer in our school.

I may have to quit though, once we move, as I have played for the team there and they train way too hard for me. Wouldn't have any time for friends or anime and manga.

I do alot of sports. Mainly i play B-ball (Street Ball), Le-Parkour, if you haven't heard of it, it's sweet.. I'm in the top 10 of the country. Plus i do Tricking, * ehk. Martial Arts Tricks, Acrobatics, Gymnastics, those three thrown into one pretty much, then i do Martial arts, Wing Tsun, Shaolin, Street Fighting! Like one of those dudes you see on anime's trying to become the strongest and is just plain crazy.. I'm not sure if Martial Arts fall under Sports, but i think they do? :P

I like playing volleyball and swimming. Two days ago, I had been smacked by a volleyball on the right side of my face in P.E. ;_; I still continue to play it since volleyball and basketball are the only two activites that can be played on free day (besides sitting and talking which is boring).

I play the proper ENGLISH Football :P although I guess you guys call it Soccer lols :DWoow! Go football! In Australia it used to be called soccer but after our success in the world cup people started calling it football and there's a push to make that the normal term used.

I used to play outdoor and futsal. When I was 13-14 I woulda been vying for the golden boot XD I just seemed to be able to score at will. I'm not very good at it so that must have meant that everyone else was really crap haha.

Outdoor I play left back, I scored one goal only out of my 2 seasons playing. :p Not a scorer at all.

Outdoor I mostly played striker or in the midfield. I was pretty good in goals also. I was offered a trial position as keeper in the Aussie indoor team but it all fell through. I scored quite a few goals, my most memorable was a corner kick I took which curled in. Of course I meant it to happen and it wasn't a fluke :p

Oooh nice XD. I remember letting through a goal directly off a corner kick. I thought it was going to hit the post and go out but it somehow squeezed between the post and my leg. So shameful >_>

My most memorable goal in futsal was when I received the ball with a defender between myself and the goal, back facing the goal. Made to spin and move to the left side but then turned to the right and kicked/flicked it into the upper net. XD yayness haha.
