Anyone ever read these books. So far there are two out. Eragon and Eldest. They're very cool books. Fans of LOTR will like this as well. Even if your not a fan of that give it a read it has lots of interesting turns.

It's about this young kid named Eragon. He finds a blue sapphire egg containing a dragon called Sapphira (surprise?). Anyways the whole story is about Eragon leaving his town to train with Sapphira to become a dragon rider. Almost the entire continent is under a tyrannical kings rule named Galbatorix. Eragon has to get to a safe place namely the Varden who is a group of rebels. Anyways I'm really bad at explaining so that is probably a stupid summary so GOOGLE IT to get a better idea.

Also the Eragon movie is coming out in December and so are the games. READ IT FIRST LAZY @$$ES.

Intresting book, though after reading It I could not help but notice something that made me feel like I had read it before. Heres a good summary not written by me but I think the point is pretty clear.

A boy of foggy origins lives with his uncle in a remote place of a vast empire headed by an evil Emperor and his right hand man, who was once prominent in an ancient order of guardians with mystical powers.

Through fate or luck, depending on your point of view, this boy comes into the possession of an object vital to a rebellion against the Empire; this object was inadvertently sent to him by a princess in the rebellion, who had attempted to send said object to an old man who once belonged to the same order of guardians as the Emperor’s right-hand man.

This boy seeks the old man to learn of the ways of this ancient order, but eventually has to return to his uncle’s farm, which, the boy finds, has been destroyed by fire, and his uncle killed. The boy then sets off with the old hermit, who also gives him a sword which belonged to his father. As they travel, they train. The boy meets up with a rogue who is full of surprises, but turns out to be fiercely loyal, for all his proclaimed selfishness. The boy also begins "seeing" a beautiful woman imprisoned and in need of help.

The boy decides that he needs to rescue her, even though he doesn't know her; further, he thinks of her only as beautiful (Luke's first words are, "Who is she? She's beautiful?" Eragon can't stop thinking about her beauty). Long story short, the old hermit dies to protect the boy, the boy and the rogue help the beautiful damsel escape.

They then set off to the rebellion to give important information and return the object which the princess had sent the boy. They were followed by the Empire, and prepare for a giant battle that will either save the rebellion or annihilate them.

The boy proves his worth with heroics during the battle, but his crowning achievement is his destruction of a noun of much power that has the ability to destroy lots of things. The boy is aided in this by one of his friends, who arrives at precisely the right moment.
The boy is lauded a hero.

Oh yes now I remember its basicly Starwars down to the T with just different names and with dragons dwarves and elves.

But still its not that bad. Its worth a read but not nessarily going to be your favorite book ever. The writing style is average and more then a few charaters are not developed as much as I wish they were but hey thats ok.

Dont let that persons summary or my comments sway you from the book or the movie however. I gave it a shot like I said and in its own right its not to bad. I just wish there was a little more origionality.

It was written by a 17 year old so its quite an accomplishment. Here is a little fanmade teaser for the film with actual footage.

but see thats why I had a problemwith it. His main publicity is that he is young main fact: starting it when he was 15 finished at 17-18 then was published through his parents. The company that latter picked him up and does the publishing now saw a way to sell it by saying that he was young. Which he now is not.

There are many young writters, some of which write better then this author but did not get the lucky break of having parents capable of getting their work published.

Now that I have said that. The above and the heavy usage of starwars themes are really my only problems with the book at the moment. It was not my most liked book ever nor was it my most hated. Its an average book for anyone who like fantasy. Go give it a read.
