Judging from the current chapter, apparently a squad of ANBU were deployed to the Sand village, so perhaps we may see some old characters as ANBU make their appearance (here's hoping) or at least a squad of Chuunin/Jounin featuring some of our old favorites making a dramatic entrance back into the story. You know, I always thought Kiba would make for a good ANBU member, with his tracking abilities and keen senses and all. If anything, we'll definately see Gaara whoop some Akatsuki tail, as well as Kankurou show off his new Jounin skills (he really got me liking him after what he did to Sakon and Ukon). New puppets, maybe?

This isn't a prediction for the next chapter, but I'm also led to assume that there will be a new chuunin exam in the story that Naruto will participate in. Shikamaru has become an examiner, and Kakashi also mentioned that he was recently in charge of restructuring the cells of genin, so perhaps we'll see Naruto display his new skills in a brand new chuunin exam. I think that after this ruckus caused by the Akatsuki invading the Sand, it would be a nice turn of events.

As for the Akatsuki's motives, they mention Shuukaku, so I'm pretty sure that they are after Gaara and the demon within him, just as they are after Naruto and his Kyuubi. When Jiraiya mentioned that Kyuubi was "one of the youma," I always thought that Shuukaku would be considered one of those creatures as well, and that the Akatsuki could be targeting them in general in order to harness their powers. It seems like I was right ^_^ but I don't want to jump the gun. I did, however, take the opportunity to rub it in the faces of a couple of my friends who didn't believe me.

i can't believe gaara ia kazekage in less than 3 years. it was so unexpected. weird how all the genins turned out so powerful in such a short period of time. seems like they could take on anyone. true, naruto is the most powerful genin right now, so i doubt he'll enter the chuunin exam, it'll be too easy for him, seems like he held back trying to get the bell. i can't wait for the next chapter.

I just read from where the anime is to where the manga is last night. And I'm glad I did because I was getting frustrated with the anime.

In regards to the Rock Lee Vs. Neji conversation... Rock Lee has never been able to beat Neji, but I think now and during the chunnin exam he could have at least kept toe to toe with him... but until they fight I wouldn't really say Rock Lee is stronger.

The next one should be interesting to see what's new with gaara and if he really earned the title of kazekage, being a Gaara fan I think he did. My prediction for 248 is that it will just be the beginning of his fight. But I hope they show off what Naruto can do asap.

Lee can see what's going on. Where does it ever say that he's simply going on reflexes? Also, the other nin say that Lee can't beat Neji because they simply ASSUME that he can't. They've never seen his skill, so of course they assume that a purely Taijutsu nin would lose to a nin who's stats cover all areas. Only Gai had seen Lee's true skill up to his fight with Gaara. Lee certainly didn't use his max speed in training with Neji. You saw the look on Neji's face when Lee hit the speeds that he did in the Gaara fight. Neji doesn't show surprise that often, which means that Lee really did something unexpected. In the Chuunin exam, had Neji fought Lee, he would have been raped. In a single second, Lee can circle an opponent at least 5 times. Neji could not hit him with the Jyuuken, it's as simple as that.

That, and Lee is about 10 times cooler than Neji is.

And Seigdespair, I don't think it would be that clear cut. Neji has won agains Lee everytime they fought. Also his defensive moves are nice... pair that with his field of vision and I think that it would be a pretty good fight. I'm not saying Neji would win forsure. But he wouldn't get his *** handed to him either.

This is true. But it still means that Neji has the skills to be a Jounin over Lee at this point. So he has to be better in the areas considered to be the skills of a Jounin at least. Given that and his proven abilities in tough fights, I dont' think anyone could say it would be a rape. Like I said, it could go Lee's way, but to say that Lee would win hands down I think is overstating it. And more to the point I think Neji would have a good chance of winning.

Lee did not use any of his awesome skills; in Neji's eyes, his basic Taijutsu atacks simply got a bit stronger. Until the Gaara fight, Neji had no idea of Lee's speed, the Gates, the Lotus, anything. Neji doesn't betray emotion easily, and yet there he was, looking as shocked as anybody. Gaara was able to create the "cushon" because the Sand automatically did it, not because he himself made it do that. He didn't have time to think about what he was doing; had it not been for the sand, he would have been dead. I don't think Neji would have the time to make himself a cushon either.

As for the Jounin thing...I rebuted that in my last post too. Rank gives you an idea of their strength, but think about this: Shikamaru was the only one to pass the Chuunin exams...yet most of the others in the finals could have destroyed him in a fight. People's strength doesn't stop growing once they hit a rank, nor is rank an indication of high strong they can grow. Naruto's still stuck as a Genin, but knowing him, he could beat Neji. What I'm trying to say here is that Chuunin can be stronger than Jounin. It has happened

I'm going to agree too that rank does not define strength. But I've got to also say that Naruto is still a Genin because he didn't have the chance to become a chunnin because he was training all that time, so he really isn't a good example.

And in my previous statements I was going under the impression that Lee and Neji both had equal opportunities to become Jounin... maybe that's not true maybe Lee is training elsewhere now, but assuming it is true that means Neji has something over Lee. Now I feel like I'm just repeating what I was saying so I won't go in circles anymore. Last thing... it's a fair fight I put even odds on either of them winning.

Thought it can be considered "training" between Lee and Neji, it was fairly obvious that Lee was taking it seriously.....in fact all the genins took training very serious, if your trying to say that because they were training they weren't actually fighting to win, you are indeed mistaken. Just because it wasn't life or death, doesn't mean it wasn't serious....only reason Lee did not open any gates during his fights with Neji is because they are forbidden, they are a doubleedged sword and if they missed Lee would've gotten owned anyway.....(like with Gaara)

as for Jounin thing.....you rebuted that in your last post.......so did I!!! I said that it is possible for Lee to OVERPOWER NEJI but LEE is just probably to stupid to beat Neji or become a jounin.....this most likely the case sense Neji has been called a genius time and time again and also the fact that he came up with two Main House techniques on his own.....(64 hands and the kaiten thing)

Final Note.......you bring up the Shikamaru thing over and over......so what? Comparing the transition from Genin to Chuunin, to the transition from Chuunin to Jounin is in itself flawed.......I for one have no clue how someone is promoted to Jounin, do you?(i suppose the "kage" chooses this but on what criteria?) yes, Shika became a chuunin before everyone else, but Neji became a Jounin before everyone, this could mean that everyone is stronger then him, but that wouldn't really make sense if you think about it......being incridibly stronger than any jounin and being a chuunin for the rest of your life, that makes absolutely no sense unless you leave the village and never come back or they decide not to take the exam(which doesn't appear to be the case with Lee) The only rank where growth is not an issue is jounin, in any other rank it definately IS an issue.........It is possible that a chuunin can be stronger than a jounin, but it is not likely.........

My assumption would be that for Neji to become a jounin in those 3 years time, he would've had to have mastered the Byakugan, ie developed the ability to fill in that remaining 1% field of vision he was blind in before. Though he was a jyuuken "master", he had by no means mastered the technique and I think that gives him remarkable potential. "He is a true genius" after all.
We can try to assume all we want about Lee since his cameo in the series was pretty badass, did the whole taking off the weights thing and opening the gates and going all Ura Renge, and so it's tough to say at this point who would beat who, especially since we haven't seen either of them. I heard someone post earlier that maybe he can open up a gate or two more, but as Kakashi (who's been a jounin since his childhood) said, opening the gates is an incredible burden on the body, so even if Rock Lee could open 6 or 7 gates now, I doubt he'd ever have done it against Neji - I think the reason Rock Lee strove so hard to beat Neji before is because Neji didn't acknowledge his strength and ability... but I think Neji acknowledged it during the chuunin exam, as someone said, he was as shocked as anybody in Lee's speed and strength. Thus unless they were pitted against each other in a life or death battle, we'll never know the answer. A lot of arguing over something that can't be proven, eh?

Well on a completely different thought about 248... I know it's probably going to be mostly the sand that gets the attention in it... but I'm hoping to see some of the other characters.

The character I really want to see the most is Hinita. She hasn't been shown in any major way for a very long time, and she is one of my favorites. I also want to see Neji and Lee just to see how much they've changed.
